Gemstone Painting & Penmanship
Three hours. Two crafts. One gemstone palette.
Young Artisans is De Mairo's recurring hands-on workshop for children aged 8 to 13, held in our Mississauga studio. Each session pairs painting with our genuine gemstone paints — hand-mulled in our own studio from real lapis lazuli, malachite, and jasper — with a rotating focus on the written word: cursive handwriting, calligraphy, or expressive lettering, depending on the session.
Every child leaves with a finished painting, a new skill in their pen, and a first-hand feel for what genuine mineral colour looks like on paper.

Meet the Colours
An introduction to our ready-made gemstone paints — where each colour comes from, and a guided colour-mixing exercise.
Paint a Composition
Brush technique and a guided painting, using our genuine gemstone paints from start to finish.
Put Pen to Paper
A focused writing session — cursive strokes, calligraphy fundamentals, or expressive lettering, depending on the day's theme.

Meet Your Instructors
Amrita
Calligraphy & LetteringAmrita is an artist and creative educator with over 8 years of experience in calligraphy, watercolour, acrylics, and mixed media. Her practice began with a fascination for lettering — the form, flow, and storytelling of handwritten script — and has since grown to include painting and mixed visual arts. She has taught workshops widely, guiding students of all ages toward their own creative voice.
Maira
Watercolour PaintingMaira is a watercolour artist who teaches the fundamentals of watercolour technique and leads each class through a guided group painting. She brings a patient, hands-on teaching style, helping kids build confidence with brush and colour while painting together as a group.
Reserve a Spot
Spaces are limited per session and confirmed first-come, first-served. Each session requires a minimum of 10 children to proceed.
If a session hasn't reached minimum enrolment 5 days before the date, we'll contact registered families to offer a full refund or a transfer to the next available session.
